The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is proud to present the Eighth Annual Saskatchewan Independent Film Awards (SIFA). Three evenings of online screenings will celebrate and showcase the best of Saskatchewan independent film, and the winners will be announced live during the online SIFA awards ceremony on Saturday November 27th.

 

The SIFA will present awards in five categories: Best Short Film, Best Student Film, Technical Achievement, Best Performance, and a new category this year, Best Music Video. The Audience Choice Award winner will be selected by viewers who tune into the live online event on November 27th. Live transcription and American Sign Language interpretation will be provided. 

 

The five nominees for Best Student Film will be screened via the SIFA website on Thursday November 25th, 7pm and be available for viewing until Friday November 26th, 6pm. 

 

The five nominees for Best Music Video will be screened via the SIFA website on Friday November 26th, 7pm and be available for viewing until Saturday November 27th, 6pm.

 

The SIFA winners will be announced during the online event on November 27th, hosted by Regina theatre artist Kris Alvarez. Kris has the privilege of relationship-building through creation and performance with like-spirited humans at Curtain Razors Theatre, Fadadance, the Artesian Theatre, and the Heritage Community Association. She's looking forward to hosting her first SIFA.

 

This event is free and open to all.

 

SIFA is presented by the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative, a non-profit, artist-run centre supporting and assisting independent, visionary, film production in Saskatchewan.
